Otter Creek Soap

Otter Creek has a long history in Kentucky Parks system. For years it bounced between Louisville Metro Parks and Kentucky State Parks. Now it’s operated by the Department of Fish and Wildlife. Not only does the state have a long history with this park, so do I! This was the site of my first official “mock” thru hike and oh what an adventure that was! That first trip my spouse and I ended up having to sleep in the car as our new and improved sleep systems did not fit out old tent - WHOOPS! Haha! We learned many a thing in that trip and now use the park as a way to teach others the art of thru hiking. This park offers so much in such a compact space; a bald eagle’s nest, a network of caves, vast eco system that spans from alpine-like pine forest to rambling creek beds that flow into the Ohio River. The park is utilized by many for a varying degree of events from archery, horseback riding, a wonderful YMCA camp, search and rescue drills, a haunted trail during Halloween.... The most notable for me, aside from thru hiking, is the Ragnar Trail Relay! A competition unlike any other. It’s 36hrs of no-stop running by a team of people on 3 trail loops that totals about 120 miles run! And yes, we run in the dark! Now that’s a challenge! So I found it fitting to scent this soap with a fresh outdoors scent using Bergamot and Lime essential oils. I hope you enjoy this soap!
